Half an acre of lawn gardens takes some tending, but our gardener has his own take on keeping things in good order.
Ask him how he approaches maintaining the gardens of our Grasmere and Ambleside hotel and he’ll say simply, “This isn’t the garden.”
Then he’ll point to the mere and the fields; the hills and mountains and say: “That’s the garden.” He’s a wise man, our gardener.
